Low energy light bulbs that work with dimmer switches?

Does anyone know where I can get one? It needs to be reasonably bright as well. I've had mixed results with low energy bulbs as I find some of them don't give out that much light.

Following on from the advert for LED bulbs....

We have some halogen LED bulbs in our kitchen and they are fine in combination with the original halogen spots, but they are very dim in comparison. I wouldn't use them on their own.

They are very cheap to run though!
