I have the green Ecoballs which are fine, but my mum got some blue and white ones (don't know the brand name, sorry) from Bid Up TV which are really good and can be used at 60 (ecoballs can only be used at 40).

Think Little Green Earthlets sell the green ones, maybe Lakeland direct too.

I've always used the stain remover stick that comes with them or the ecover stain remover.

depends, do have washing liquid for stuff that just won't go but generally if you get the stain remover stuff on quickly it does the trick (it's just noticing there are stains quickly that i struggle with!)

serafinapekala, I checked the EcoBalls instructions on their website and they say that they can be used at 60. I wanted to check because of doing nappies.

I am so pleased with my EcoBalls, we've been using them for all the washing for about four months and they get most things clean. For stains with tomato etc in I am using a Vanish stain stick as I've got it and might as well use it till it's gone, but other than that I don't use anything.

Our washing machine had an incontinent moment yesterday and DH said it was actually a pleasure to pull it all out because it didn't smell like it used to with conventional detergent.

Fair dos PigeonPie, will wack them in on a 60 next time

Completely agree about the smell; also the washing machine doesn't get clogged up using ecoballs.

Vanish sticks not expensive and last for ages IME.

I also now put the machine on 'timesaver' and if I could cut out the rinses I would as you don't need them.

babyjjbaby, my main day for clothes is Monday (5 loads) and I do a couple of loads of the DS's stuff on a Friday. I rinse the really bad stuff in between, but certainly haven't got time to do loads every day.

I think they are about 2 quid, they last forever, but it's obviously a big chunk of the budget gone.

The balls from Bid Up came with two stain remover sticks so it might be worth hanging on until they arrive.
