My daughter is 12 yo and recently her father (after many arguments) started paying child maintenance, one weekend he said to her to bring £20 to go to the cinema with his new family ! When I said no way ( he doesn't need money ) he said to her that he gives me the money for that as well !! I'm shocked!!! I've said no ... but she said oh mum I really want to go :( dunno what to do !

(No personal experience).

You shouldn't have to pay!

Child maintenance covers giving her a home, and then food, clothes, treats when she is with you. Normally child maintenance is dependent on what proportion of time they are with you compared with the other parent.

If you 'give in' on this, he'll be asking for money towards meals out, and presents he gives her etc!

I meant when he has her then he should pay for whatever she needs.
