Why do so many people seem to not care about the planet?!

Everytime I see something on here about polyester clothes (and there is a lot on here about clothes) it's all about "ooh, I don't like the way it hangs" or "it makes me sweaty",....goodness it makes ME cry! Never mind how it hangs, it destroys the bloomin' planet! Why is this such a secondary (if not much, much lower) concern on people's lists - I thought this was a web-site for Mums.... of children... do you want them to have a habitable planet or not? To name one tiny, tiny issue with polyester fibres: the problem that EVERY time you wash the garment the fibres end up in the sea - then in the fish - then in us if we eat the fish - causing cancer in us as well as many other health issues. Just one small issue with one small product in one small area. I feel like I spend so many hours in a week explaining things to people which just seem so obvious if they opened their eyes a little and I'm certainly no eco-warrior. Can we not please lave a decent planet for the kids, please?

It's like bailing the Titanic with a teaspoon. We're going down, might as well listen to the band play.

I think people feel powerless. I agree ok that people don't seem to care...which is largely why we are all in this mess.

Cotton and other products destroy the planet too op. Trouble is humans ARE destructive. It's in our nature.

No, it isn't a website 'for mums with children' it is a parenting forum with topics that anyone with a brain and eyes can join in on.

Fwiw i have never in real life or on any forum experienced people complain about polyester clothes re their environmental impact. The environmental impact of cotton is pretty shit, too.

But then i shop in charity shops and Ebay, so am Smuggy McSmugpants in this argument.

I actually think i there is more plastic on my Ikea furniture than anywhere else in my house! Well, actually, DS has a metric fuckton of Lego and Playmobil...

You don't also happen to believe the earth is flat and refuse to vaccinate your kids do you?
