What's with the grey squirrel hate? Why should we hate them just because they are squirrel immigrants and they are slowly crowding out the red (native) squirrel population? Since when did being red give them such a sense of entitlement, and more of a right to life? So what, if in 50 years time the only red squirrels left will be living in some remote part of the Scotland?

And how can the government (and all the various wildlife and environmental agencies it funds) justify a programme of ethnic cleansing of grey squirrels to protect the future of red ones?
