I have namechanged. Still in shock only did test to stop my paraonia at strange symptoms except it was positive.

Ds is breastfed so as far as I figure the maximum I could be is 12 weeks (10 weeks since we resumed relation with bloody condoms).

I work in local government what will happen? I don't want to put ds in nursery and rush back christ he feeds constantly and is only little.

Anybody got any words of wisdom / reassurance?

No idea how to tell dp tonight thats a whole other thread

Chances are you will qualify for SMP. In any case you will be entitled to a second period of maternity leave. Call Working Families, they will talk you through it all.

Sorry to disagree but unless you do rush back this time, you may well not qualify for SMP.

SMP is worked out on your average earnings between weeks 17 and 25 of your pregnancy. If you are not earning at all during that time, or not earning enough, you won't get SMP. You may be entitled to Maternity Allowance though, which isn't that much different really.

As you are working in local government I imagine you have a fairly generous maternity policy offering over and above SMP. You need to check this carefully to see whether you will be entitled to it. You will certainly be entitled to another year maternity leave as normal, but you need to check the terms and conditions of the maternity policy carefully to see what pay you might qualify for.

Have a read here about different maternity pay arrangements.

You don't have to tell your employer you are pregnant until you are 25 weeks if you don't want do, so don't panic about that just yet if you'd rather not talk to anyone so quickly.

Congratulations anyway and hope you get everything sorted.

thank you flowery. We are still trying to figure out what on earth is going on (positive tests sometimes negative others). Doing blood tests this week and if a 'viable' (hate that phrase) actual pregnancy then I suppose dating scan and then we can plan from there.

We have figured out I have to go back to get some cash as we will need to move from our first floor two bed flat as i won't be able to get three kids, two non-mobile down the stairs! maternity pay is standard plus 12 weeks half pay so considerable.

Also need to find out if dd nursery has a place for ds in time! They quote six months waiting list

brain exploding going to go make a cup of tea and pretend its not happening .......
