Hi all,
I have posted here in the past but not a regular, but still would like your advice. I am a very experienced AP Manager and would like to say i know the job/role 99.9%. I am currently in a role that the department is being taken over by the middle east very shortly. I received a phone call today from a company that had been sent my cv and they have offered me a interview tommorow for a Management Accountant role. I have had a look at the job spec and can see that AP/SL is involved. KPI's, setting up new systems etc. This is something that i have been involved in my present and previous roles. They are only interviewing four people including myself but am wondering wether to phone them and point out that my strengths are Accounts Payable and not management accounting. I did do management accounts but it was 15 years ago and times have certainly moved on since then. Should i just phone and cancel interview and not waste thier time?

Are you actively looking for another role?

Would you want the job if they offered you it?

I don't think they would bother interviewing you if they didn't think you could do the job.

It's not clear from your post whether you are actually losing your job when the dept is taken over. If you are then why not go for it and treat it as interview practice.

Hi trixy, I will be looking for another role in about 6 weeks. I am still at my present job to clear up ledgers etc. After that the job will be gone. I suppose going for the interview wont harm just dont want to make myself look stupid (and i have not even told porkies on my cv (shock)). Nothing to lose i suppose just know i am not qualified enough. I probably would take the job but then again, not 100% I could do it.
