I work in a small village school as a TA and am on maternity leave since end of January.I originally told head that i would return September but have changed my mind.I love being at home with baby and maternity pay is same almost as what I get payed .Irang the scool this week to tell them my decision apparently other staff are covering my position at present so they were hoping id be back.

Do you mean you are not going back at all? Make sure you put your decisions in writing and know if and how much you have to pay back.

Trust me, it will be no big deal to the school like it is to you. Staff come and go all the time.

No you shouldn't feel guilty.

You have changed your mind, which is your choice. it may inconvenience the school, but its not something they can't sort out easily.

I am presuming that you mean you are taking longer off than anticipated?

Enjoy this time, its too special to worry about what they think! smile

You're entitled to a year off, but only 9 months pay...
