Thinking of becoming a home-start volunteer - anyone done it?

Ive just responded to an advert in my local paper for a Home-Start volunteer. They are going to get someone to ring me with more details and send an information pack out to me. I would have to attend an 11 week course, for just 1 day a week.

I was just wondering if anyone has done this.
I am currently a SAHM with 3 children, the youngest of which is in Reception class.

I am lucky in that financially, I dont need to work however, although I keep fit and meet with friends regularly during the week it is no longer enough.

I would appreciate good and back feedback on this.
