Payment of SMP on redundancy

Trying to keep this vague- have asked HR at work several weeks ago but they are notoriously slow and I'm trying to plan ahead. Appreciate advice here will be non-specific though. I will be made redundant on 31st August and I will start my maternity leave (effectively) on 1st September. Dates all work for eligibility for SMP etc, no worries on that front. Is it likely that my SMP will be paid in a lump sum or is there a chance it will be paid monthly? The 'business' is closing but the 'parent company' remains and could administer payroll ongoing. I'm trying to work out if we would still be able to have tax free childcare for DD to retain her place by doing the minimum days (she won't be old enough to get any free hours til I go back to work anyway) as I'll be on maternity leave but it'll be harder to evidence this if I get my SMP in a lump, possibly? Not so worried about tax implications of having it in a big lump as I know that will work itself out in due course. Any thoughts on the timing of the payment and/or how tax free childcare might work would be much appreciated!
