To assume I got rejected?

I applied for a very competitive job, of which there were 20 identical openings, but feel like I had a strong application. Not stellar, but worth a punt. As part of the application process, some people were invited to complete an exam. I did the exam, it was OK but I hate them.
Some people were then interviewed, and from whispers I hear some had final round interviews by telephone.

The job application form stated that there would be assessment centre day held in their London office in March and didn’t mention phone interviews.

So the situation is, that I sat the exam two weeks ago. I’ve heard nothing since. A colleague of mine who also applied knows someone working at the firm, and he asked her. She said not to worry they did this to her and she got the job last year.

But am I being pessimistic to assume that if I was what they were after, I’d have heard back from them.

Do some firms just not reply if they don’t want you?

There are so many permutations of the recruitment process in there it’s impossible to tell. Why don’t you just ring or email and ask them?
