Separating - Working from Home

Hello

Can anyone offer any advice on how to approach this.

I work part time
I work 2 days a week the office and 1.5 from home

I am separating from my husband, however my work is a 2 hour commute each way, and we have young children (6 and 10).

I have approached my manager and advised them of the situation and asked if I can work from home (for the time being), but if possible would like to extend this to cover a majority of my hours.

I have regularly worked from home in the past (upon requests), but I’m not sure how this will be viewed as a long term solution.
Obviously I don’t want to loose my job over this and I am thinking long-term of looking for work nearer to home.  But for the moment I would like to stay in my current job, whilst it gives me stability and I have time to work out the whole situation (long term).

My stbx and I have discussed him having our children one day in the work week for the immediate future (and he plans to move nearby) so I can continue to go up to my office (at least one day a week). We haven’t discussed anything else at the moment, but I fully understand that childcare will be shared out, but my most pressing concern, is how to approach my workplace about this.
Does anyone have any pointers I should consider as Im chatting with my manager next week.

To be honest , I don’t know what I’m asking, more is there anything I really should think about and consider?

Id be interested in hearing from anyone else who has been in a similar situation and how they dealt with work specifically.

Thank you

How does it currently work? Can't you make arrangements around that?
