My best friend is contemplating becoming a slimming world consultant after loosing 4 stone.
Has anyone done this?

She's spoken to the area manager who has been very vague about loads of stuff which is putting her off and she doesn't want to waste time going to the recruitment event if it's not do-able.

Questions being:-

How much is the franchise?
Do you pay in instalments or all in one go?
What percentage of the takings do you keep?
Do you have to pay the room hire?
Do you pay for the training?
Do you get all the stationery/ computer given to you?

Re; the shop are the books and hifi bars on sale and return or do you pay upfront?!

If anyone has any experience- good or bad - please share with me
Thanks

If you go onto minimins forum and search there are some long running threads from slimming world consultants.

One of the main things I've seen is that the only people who actually make money are ones that put in significantly more time than people realise. You have to be running multiple groups with significant numbers paying in to make money. Most people will make very little once overheads like room hire and all the branded books equipment etc are paid for.

I'd check out minimins and attend the recruitment event since it's free and there's no obligation.

You have to pay for certificates yourself

I looked into it some years ago, it is very, very demanding; you will need to pay for EVERYTHING, undoubtedly some consultants are very, very good at their job but you will need bags of energy, enthusiasm & time to get quite a few groups going.

How much is the franchise? £1500.00 last time I checked.
Do you pay in instalments or all in one go? All in one go
What percentage of the takings do you keep? Depends on earnings level. Most is 50% of member fees, least is 25%(I think might be 20%)
Do you have to pay the room hire? This is split with consultant and SW, I believe they give you an allowance and you pay the difference
Do you pay for the training? You pay all your own travel to HO, hotel rooms etc etc, training itself is included in the franchise fee
Do you get all the stationery/ computer given to you? You get scales, computer etc but need to purchase all stationary.

Re; the shop are the books and hifi bars on sale and return or do you pay upfront?! You make 10p on each box of bars and I think 20% on the books. You have 60 day invoicing on those so if you don't sell them in that time you still need to pay for them.

Having been a social team member for 3 years and seen everything my consultant put into it I personally wouldn't do it for all the tea in china! Slimming World are facing a lot of criticism with their most recent changes. They are also over saturating the market with classes and this is really obvious looking at class numbers.
