Leaving job - post advertised at higher scale

I've been in the job 6 years, like most people, I haven't received a pay increase in that time.
I asked to go up to the next scale 2 years ago and was told no, couldn't afford it.

I moved house and have been waiting for a similar job to come up locally. It did and I got it.
The post I am vacating has just been advertised and is a scale higher than I am on.
I am fuming, it has really tainted my last two weeks at work.
I don't know whether I should say anything once we return from half term.

What would you say? They have discovered by having to recruit for your post that they will need to pay more than they have been.

You’re in the better position of having the job you want near to where you live. There’s no value in saying anything.

Agree with flowery. I would add that the fact it has been advertised at a higher salary does not necessarily mean that is what will be offered. Some employers advertise salaries they have no intention of paying in order to attract candidates. But, as flowery says, there is no point in saying anything. It won't help you.

Thanks for your responses. I know there is nothing I can say but it still makes me mad.

I was one of 6 interviewed for my new job and that is down a scale. I will be better off as it is 37hrs per week, not 32.5 and will chop 70 miles a day from my commute.
So, I don't think my old post needs to be advertised at the higher scale to attract people. If they wouldn't pay me that amount, why are they happy to now?

It just feels like a kick in the teeth.

They are rude. But you have a much better job so you have the last laugh really. Don't bother making any effort preparing a lengthy handover!

I know your pain. No point saying anything as they will just lie.

It's probably their pride as to why you didn't get a pay rise and they know they will loose more staff as what they pay is crap

Just be glad you've moved on as those type of bosses are horrible usually anyways.

But it happened to me few weeks ago and I am still annoyed over it.
