Partner's work confidence knocked

My partner left his job to help a friend run a business. Things didn't work out as the friend treated my partner disrespectfully at work. Has anyone had this experience and can they recommend any no-nonsense (i.e. not touchy-feely) books or websites that might help rebuild that confidence?

I can recommend a book.

But similar happened to me. I left a career to work with dh. It didnt work out and dh and i nearly got divorced.

What got my confidence back was getting back to work. I have had a job where i am valued and thats got my confidence back.

(As an aside it didnt immeadiately fix my marriage. Counselling and dh working hard to repair the damage did)
