Dear All,

My DH recently applied for a job as a teacher in an independent school. He went for the interview on Weds 8th March. the HR lady said 'we'll be in touch by the end of today or tomorrow..." (weds/thurs) and then... nothing. He was like a caged tiger all weekend.

Monday last thing, he receives and email...

Please accept our sincere apologies for not being in touch sooner, we would not wish you to feel that we are being dismissive of your visit to us last week, we have been experiencing some of our busiest few weeks here at School.

Mr XXXX has asked me to pass on that he very much enjoyed meeting you and whilst he is currently not yet in a position to make you an offer, he is very keen to stress that he was impressed by your capabilities and the potential that you may be able to bring to XXXX School. There are a number of other factors which are under consideration however, he is hopeful to be able to give you a definitive answer by the end of the week

(I've blanked out the specifics)

We've heard nothing as yet.... what do you think?? I now its a bit of a silly question, but its driving me crackers!

Does it sound like there is an offer in the making, or that there is no job? I'm really confused.

Thanks!

It is possible that the Inspectors may be in, it is possible that an offer has been made to someone else and your DH is second choice if they don't accept, it is possible that someone else has resigned too and maybe they are rethinking what positions are available.

As it stands I'd say still in with a chance as its not a definite no yet.
