Work

KIT days

So my work failed to cover my maternity properly and rang be 5 months into my leave asking me to come in 3 days a month on KIT days to help out till I'm back in jab . I agreed and was told they would be paid. I'm been doing full days and basically expected to run the department while there along with constant phonecalls at home from the staff which is annoying. But when it's come to payment they can't seem to work out how to pay me as I'm on smp there saying the system won't let them pay me. They've sent me a form to fill out my hours which I've done but checked my payslip and only smp has gone in! So annoyed , Does anyone have any experience of this? I think they are intending to pay me but don't think they have a clue ! And I'm reluctant to carry on doing them now can I tell them I dont want to do any more till I can be assured they will be paid?
I half did them as I have negotiated less hours for my return so thought it would help but I'm getting a bit annoyed now!

Of course they can pay you up to 10 KIT days they just need to look up in the help guide how to process it on whatever payroll software they use. (We pay for a support helpline with sage if we are unsure of stuff like this).

That's what I though it's ridiculous they begged me to do it and now I'm having to keep begging for the pay from it ! Making me want to tell them to get lost! They've been full days doing a ridiculous about of work too not just little meetings ! So angry with them!

I admit I wouldn't have a clue how to do it on our system (I'm one of only two women in my workplace & the other is a grandmother & I'm not having any more children) but if I did need to ID be able to find out.

Have you done/will you be doing more than 10 days in total? More will effect your mat pay.

You can be available for just 1 hour and it counts as a day so I would be careful in taking calls at home etc.

They pay by adding the days in to your salary to run along your mat pay, have you sent your kit days to your payroll dept in time for their deadline?

I hope someone more knowledgeable will be along soon, but I'm sure I've read that if you start doing actual work (ie over and above the 10 KIT days allowed) then your mat leave is effectively at an end. Check with your HR dept?

Yes, if more than 10 days are worked you lose SMP. But the OP said she has only done KIT days so far.
