Retail interview help needed

I have an interview on Tuesday for a part time sales assistant post in a local womens clothes shop. It's a small shop that sells clothes like Masai,Sahara etc. the ad said that retail experience welcome but full training would be given.
I haven't worked at all for five years. Before that I was a social worker, working with adults, for 25 years. I have had retail experience prior to this, but not in the clothing sector.
I do believe that the interpersonal skills gained in sw practice are transferable to this sector, however I've got to get through the interview first.
Does anyone have any experience of interviews for this kind if post? Any help as to what to prepare for would be really appreciated.

I am a retail manager and have to interview sometimes. The main things I look for are enthusiasm for the product (you don't necessarily have to know a lot but be prepared to learn and have an interest) and that the person in front of me is confident and able to communicate. A 'people person' as they say. I'm sure your skills from being a sw are very easily transferable. Other than that customer service is important, a lot can be taught but you need a basic understanding of what good service is and how it is achieved.

I used to be a retail manager. I would be looking for - someone who works well in my team and pulls their weight but who will also take initiative and will not stand around twiddling thumbs. Someone who is a people person, gets on well, understands the need for rapport to be built up with the customer base. Someone that has a knowledge in what we sell. Someone that will and can demonstrate how they've gone out their way to give great service to others.

Thank you both, that's been really helpful.
