Can I request a shorter lunch break?

I was working 9 - 5.30 with an hour lunch break. This is standard for a full time position. Due to ill health, I am now needing to reduce my hours. I'm looking at going down to 3 days per week. Can I ask to work 9 - 5.30 with 30 mins lunch instead of 60?

You can certainly ask. Have they agreed to you doing 3 days?

Legally you have to have a minimum of 20 minutes break if you work over 6 hours. So legally, yes they can say yes.

It wouldn't hurt to ask!

Informally, they have said yes. I haven't put in my request yet but they've said it shouldn't be an issue.

Thank you! Just wanted to be aware of my right to ask.
