Will I get a reputation for taking action?

Having raised a grievance and taken issues surrounding provision of Childcare vouchers during maternity leave up with my union I am wondering whether this weakens my position when I go back with regards to promotion etc.

I thought they weren't allowed to treat me any differently but I keep getting warned by family to be careful as I'll get a name for myself.

Am I kidding myself that it won't affect my career with the company?!

It's possible. On the other hand you may get a reputation of someone who is not to be messed with.
