Help! I've been short listed for interview for a band 6 theatre sister. I've been asked to prepare a short presentation on a cost saving initiative that I could implement using a change management model. I don't know where to begin or how long a 'short' presentation should be!!!!'

Last year I did one on stopping the use of sponges when scrubbing as the evidence doesn't support their use (still use nail brushes and picks though). I worked out the saving over a year and combined it with implementing a measured device for dispensing scrub solution. It wasn't for a band six job though. I suppose you could include strategies for implementing the change and discuss how you could change entrenched practice. I included a literature search and my evidence for why the change was in line with the Afpp and NICE etc. I also offered suggestions on what we could spend our savings on (bit cheeky). I offered a plan, timescale, agencies involved etc

I applied for a band 7 and we were asked to do a 10min presentation at interview so is guess no longer than that! Good luck Smile

Think of something that needs changing that will save money. It can be as simple as using less paper! Streamlining patient prep? Reduce cancellations?

Use a change model. The NHS has one, but you can use a different one too. Kotter's is quite good.

Do some sort of a timeline, how will you implement it, timings, costs. What will hinder making the change (usually staff attitudes!) Make sure it's doable as they will probably expect you to carry it out if you are successful with the post!

Good luck
