I think all you can do is apologise. People have been sacked for this so keep your fingers crossed they don't take it that far.

And stop slagging off work on fb. Even if your privacy settings are tight someone you consider a trusted colleague may well run and tell tales.

You should:

Apologise
Expect to be disciplined and possibly sacked
Read your company's disciplinary policy and policy on IT use (if they have one) carefully
Check your privacy settings on facebook
Don't mention work on facebook
Don't have any colleagues as friends on facebook
Expect your own complaint to possibly be taken less seriously by whichever manager is hearing it

If they've only heard about it second hand, not seen it - delete and deny!

If there's evidence then start jobhunting....

I'm sorry you are having such a hard time at work and I can't offer any advice except that to slag anyone off on a public forum is bound to have consequences. This has been highlighted often enough in the news recently for you to know better. Sorry, it isn't what you wanted to hear, but it is unprofessional and now you have been found out. If they haven't seen it delete it, but if they have then I would follow flowery's advice.

Unfortunately the fact that you have slagged them off on Facebook means that they will treat you like a child. It is totally unprofessional to slag off your employer on Facebook. In some companies it is a sackable offence.

you seem to be acting like a child.

You don't come across well here, tbh.

Whether you have an existing complaint about any manager doesn't negate the fact that you have commented about your employer/colleagues on Facebook (and negatively, to boot).

When will people start getting that this isn't acceptable?

I'm sorry, OP, that you are feeling upset and bullied - that's not on. But it is never acceptable to post comments about your professional role online, or, at least, never in the last 10 years from the contracts I've signed - I remember when I got my first job in (my current) industry this sort of stuff would be covered under the "acceptable IT usage" policy, but my previous employer x2 had comments on websites written into a different section too. My current employer specifically lists "websites and social media platforms" from what I recall. And since I signed that 2 years ago maybe they've altered the new ones to mention Facebook, Myspace etc by name now, for all i know.

Anyway, if you don't get sacked this time, count yourself lucky - many haven't been so fortunate. My own organisation is quite large, but the office I work at only has space for a maximum of 40 - 45 project employees - and I know of 2 cases in the last year where people have been fired (1) or faced a diciplinary warning because of crap they've put online (the other one).

I also know for a fact that my boss has not hired people because of stuff he's found online about them. Not officially, of course - "stronger candidates, etc." but I know what goes on in private.

Good luck.

"unprofessional to slag off your employer on Facebook. In some companies it is a sackable offence."

And just to expand on that particular point, in my current contract I'm not even allowed to say what I'm doing, online. So even positive comments would land me in the shit. Because we do a lot of ad hoc, short burst projects which shouldn't be leaked to outside parties (like the media, etc)

So even if I were to say something nice, but it was too much detail, I might get into trouble e.g. "wow those guys at the cancer charity are really organised - great meeting today! looking forward to getting the proofs out to them next week" - bad bad bad! So I don't risk it - ever!

You come across as about 17 tbh.

Surely you remember a time when we didn't have facebook to air our dirty laundry in public. What did you do when you were pissed off with someone then? Have a moan in rl or on the phone. Not on the bloody internet where it remains forever.

I done something similar before FB with the office manager. We were on a works night out in the toilet slagging the 'big' boss off. Commented on how many men she had had from the operations team blah blah. Went on for well over 10 minutes. Opened the toilet door and she ws standing with her hand on her hip Blush

Lesson learned in my case. My job was very uncomfortable for a while
