Flex Working - Trial Period?

Ok, so after an uphill battle for a response to a flexible working application (and involving the union and HR to push for a yea or nay) I have been offered a trial period of several months, as they are still reluctant to split the post permanently.

I have accepted this as it seems fair enough, though wondering if the company is giving themselves wriggle room - they could - in the end - nitpick for reasons the p-time arrangement doesn't work. They clearly dont want me to be ptime.

Any advice on how to manage this?

  • can i stipulate any ground rules - like regular reviews for them to highlight any issues so i can try to make it work for everyone...rather than just getting to the end of the period where they say... 'that didn't work for us...'?

Got a meeting this week so any help appreciated.

You should be able to stipulate regular reviews to discuss how it is going. If you do I suggest you minute the meeting and if the minute the meeting too request a copy of them. That way when they turn round at the end and say its not working you have the proof that they didnt bring it up before then.
