Sherborne or Leweston?

We have just moved into a village south of Sherborne and have a dd aged three. We are finding it hard to decide between Sherborne and Leweston. Does anyone have any experience of them?

There is a school called Sherborne prep which I presume is the one you are thinking about. I considered it for ds but I didn't want to drive that far with him only been in nursery at the moment.

I would look around both and see how you feel. I often spoke to parents I saw out and about with their kids what they thought of the school I chose.

Yes, it would be Sherborne prep to begin with, though I'm trying to look further ahead since not keen on moving schools once started (unless we have a bad experience or financial disaster). Thanks

I think that your daughter may find Leweston a little isolated. Sherborne Girls turns out some really great people and has the benefit of being close to town. It is also near the boy's school to help with learning some of life's lessons rather than being too sheltered from the outside world.

Tutorlink, thanks we hadn't really considered but you're right - we live in the sticks too which only adds to the issue

Most of the girls in our area go to Leweston.

It's a school with a good reputation and has a high proportion of people who live locally (I think by definition everyone in Somerset/Dorset is in the sticks).

It has strong links with the local community and of course, the upside of that is as a day pupil or weekly boarder there will be friends and activities locally out of school hours.

Sherborne Prep is a fabulous school, but for building a life in the area, I'd go for Leweston.

I may be late to this thread but hope that you chose Lewiston.

A friend of my sister lost his job and Sherborne Prep School made their life hell. First Sherborne Prep fought to keep kids at school, despite parents struggling, then when they could no longer pay bills, after reassuring them they would help, they refused to let them off the notice period (at that stage two terms). They then took them to court for not paying the bills, added £15k interest (can they do that?) and then made the poor chap bankrupt. Was soon tough on them and children.

Late to the thread?? Seven years late! You mean you have been trawling for threads about Sherborne Prep to peddle your story.
