What exactly is it? The ads are very uninformative.

Is it the sort of thing you do if your dc needs help, or if your dc is capable of more but the shcool arn't doing enough for them?

I think that it can be either of those. Usually, it's used more as an extension for quite able children, rather than a remedial thing for the less able.

It can be for either Maths or English, but in our area only the Maths one is available. I think it's mainly for children who are struggling at school, but also for children whose parents want to show off about how good their kids are something by working through the levels!

They use very formal methods and most people find it helps achievement-wise, although levels off after a while.

There's a lot of effort required from the parents though in terms of marking etc.

It's expensive, boring, time consuming and plays to parental insecurities. Don't be sucked in.

No, no, no.
Totally agree with Seeker. Feel very sorry for those kids whose parents inflict it on them

Does help just lots of completing worksheets that impress some people but don't really "teach" skills.
