Not usually, though 6th form might have induction type week.

Book it!

Most 6th form inductions are after exam results e.g around 21st august? They don't go back after the last exam until they go for the results

did think it was odd to have the prom in april, but now think it's a much better idea

As far as I'm aware Y11 officially leave school on 30th June and can take up full time employment from 1st July. Therefore even though exams finish earlier, they are still on the school roll!!!! We have never asked them to come back in at my school.

It's 20 years ago, but we definitely went back after GSCE-equivalent exams (was in Scotland). But another local school didn't. Ask the school.

Our school has the 6th form induction either the last week of term or the week before. You need to ask your school

They don't in our school. Check with the school to see what the sixth form entry entails

They don't in DD3's school. I think she finishes her GCSE#s around 20th June. But she is going to leavers prom which is at the beginning of July.

You will get more answers if you start your own thread (this is a zombie from 2008) but to answer your question, yes, technically the school can do this because your son won’t have left yet. The last day of school for y11 in England is the last Friday in June, which this year is the 28th. He should also have been told to keep Wednesday 26 June free as it is a JCQ contingency day in case they need to rearrange a national exam.
