I have just taken ds1 school jumper out of his bag and discovered a cut across the front of it.

I asked him what happened, at first he tried to blame ds2 but i knew he was lying.

When i got to the bottom of it, he said that him and x were messing on and x told him to cut his jumper.

I said he does not do things anybody tells him to do, explained if i think he is messing on with x i will ask for him to be moved.

Do i have a word with the teacher, as ds1 is in year 2 and there are only 18 children in the class they should surely not be messing about with scissors.

I am a bit worried about this as when i had to nip into school the other week i peeked into ds1 classroom and him and x were messing on. when i asked what he was doing he said they were playing penalty shoot outs with the pencils. teacher was sorting something on the wall.

I would be cross with my ds too. U could mention it to teacher. The scissors cause concern. Maybe send him in without jumper and say as a reason as he cut hes with scissors whilst messing in class!! but in a kind of jokey way ???

I would definatly make a point of mentioning it to the teacher.

i have just told ds that he has to do jobs round the house to earn the money to buy a new jumper. we do have another but not the point.

also no ps2 or ds for one week.

My dd did this too in reception, I sewed up jumper badly and made her wear it for remainder of the year until her pocket money paid for a new one, horrible I know but she never did it again. Ds on the other hand used to cut his own jumper, t shirt and trousers when scissors handed out as he hated doing craftwork so he was banned from scissors by teacher until he learnt to stop. Which lead to comments on his inability to use scissors in year 1 report! Still moans about craftwork but doesn't feel the need to cut his clothes anymore, still can't use scissors though think I may have been too harsh in my comments to him after the event.

I remember doing this to my shirt in middle infants (Y1) just to see what happened.

What happened was my mother was furious and I had to wear the shirt with an ironed-on patch.

. I remember coming home without any shoes because I'd set my heart on a new pair. Said I'd lost them.
