Anyone else's child really just not enjoying reception?

My usually confident sociable dd was very excited to start school-4 weeks in she's not enjoying it.
She has quite a few friends she's gone up with but frequently says she's had No one to play with, the girls won't be friends with her. Today she didn't eat her school dinner again :(
Spoke to teacher who says she seems fine but ever night and morning she's feigning injury and illness to get out of going- everyone else's dc's from preschool are settling in really well but there must be someone else going through the same as me?!
Dd seems sad and very quiet after school

Have you asked her teacher?

It probably is fine then. DD got like this when she started school too - would play in school with the kids, but refuse school dinner, and then lie about how horrible things were. Give it until after Christmas.

You might get more traffic if you ask in Primary Education.

When my DD (also sociable, confident, ready, excited) started I fully expected her to make friends easily and settle in well - she'd always been popular at nursery. At school though, it took longer for her to make any proper friends - most of the first term - though she was happy enough during this time.

If she's feeling lonely at break times the teacher may not really see it. I'd keep encouraging her to talk about her worries, and suggest strategies for making friends, and encourage her to try different people, and ask if there's a friendship bench or similar. It can take a while. I hope she settles soon.
