Wellingborough School (private) v Aylesbury Grammar School (Grammar)

My DS has been offered a place at Aylesbury Grammar School (AGS) for Year 7 and also at Wellingborough School (full scholarship so no fee payable). He likes each one equally so has no strong preference. Both are roughly equidistant and similar journeys. Which should we choose? Although we know we are very lucky to have this choice we are finding it really difficult to decide. He is bright (although how bright we are not sure as his current cohort in his state village primary is small). He would be amongst a generally higher achieving cohort at AGS which is also a much larger school. He would be streamed at Wellingborough for many subjects. Another complicating factor is that he has been very lucky to have been offered a place at AGS as in all of the previous 4 years we would have been outside the distance criteria. He has 2 siblings who would benefit from the sibling link into AGS should they pass the 11+. If they didn't pass the 11+, or if DS goes to Wellingborough we would most likely send both siblings to Wellingborough (on full fees, possibly) which would be a stretch financially. What would you do? Does anyone have experience of having children at either school?
