Which Nursery? Please advise..

Hi,
We are first time parents and in complete confusion as to which nursery we should get our daughter into. She is 10 months at the moment and I have applied to Broadhurst, Strawberry Fields, Mulberry House, Miss Delaney's and Pippa Poppins. I have an offer from Mulberry House and only a week to accept it by paying the deposit Shock. Reaching out to you experienced mums and dads to dig out any recommendations, advice or knowledge on these nurseries? Anyone's kids going to any of these places?

You may get more insight if you post in childcare, rather than education?

Well Pippa Poppins is a really irritating name for a nursery so that one's out.

Gut instinct.

And have fingers and toes crossed you got it right as nurseries are a mindfield

You might want to put the area or the nursery names in your title. Most people will not have heard of any of them!

What area are you talking about?

I found toddler groups brilliant for finding out about local nurseries.

Most of the good schools and nurseries in told are either in Hampstead or Nottinghill area. We are flexible in terms of our location around central London and would move to where DD gets the best. Thanks for the inputs so far...

I recognise a couple of those names. They are more like private school nurseries than daycare. For Miss Delaneys you should have registered when you got the positive pregnancy test. I presume you want your child to go to a particular private prep school? In which case I would ask the school for a recommendation. Also some of these really expensive nurseries have crap outside space due to the area they are situated in.

Hi juniorcakeoff,

Yes, I am after a private nursery, not a daycare. Plan to keep a nanny until she's ready for nursery at 2-2.5.
Doesn't seem so about Miss Delaney's as I only registered when my DD was 9 months old and we went to visit it last week and were told we'd be getting an offer by next week Smile
The prep schools - I spoke to a few and they don't give specific names. They are quite vague about it.

If Miss Delaneys offered you a place and you like it then accept it if you like w London, used to be v popular there. if you prefer N London then Broadhurst gives you good prep options - disclaimer - I use state schools but have friends from that sort of environment.

Also have friends from another country who moved to ldn and who used nursery consultant to give them this sort of info, seems mad to me but might be worth you looking into if this is really important to you.

Thanks juniorcakeoff,
Yes I've heard of nursery consultants but prefer getting reviews from experienced parents. Hence banking on mumsnet Smile
