I got the book 'It's Your Time You're Wasting' for Xmas from my daughter who is trianing to be a teacher. (I used to be one myself too)

It's written by a teacher in one of Britain's most awful schools and it is hilarious if you do not have kids at Secondary School but absolutely terrifying if you do.

I've been out of teaching for five years now, but so much of what he says rings true. I can't ever remember a book that actually told the truth about what really goes on in modern schools. I cried with laughter at the funny stuff and pounded the table at the serious bits.

I just wish someone in Government would read it.

Anyone else read it? What did you think?

Sounds fascinating - I've ordered a copy from our library, and am looking forward to reading it.

He has a blog, and the book was taken from his blog entries.

I have read it, funny in places, but will get much of MN foaming at the mouth and convinced that all teachers are bastards and should be hung from organic lamposts by hand woven rope.

One for the teachers rather than some parents IMHO.....

I gave my copy to our PGCE student to prepare him for the realities of life in an inner city college.

He's spot on most of the time, but there are times when there are distinct flashes of Daily Mailitis.
