I hate it when the DS's are given homework that I have to do......

It's all about teeth and healthy eating...

Yes, I/we could just tell him stuff that I/we know off the tops of our head but of course I/we/he/the teacher wants something a little more intersting.

I've just spent nearly 3 hours on the WWW looking for facts and info that are a bit different to go with all the general stuff that I've told him.

It just bugs me....

Forgive me for being naive, but isn't ds supposed to do it himself? Couldn't you just google dental health for him and assist when he asks?

Sorry, I should ahve said "We have been sitting here for 3 hours"

rather tahn having baout 8 differnet windows open, we've looked for relevent facts and info...I've jotted it all on rough paper as he's told me what he wants and now he's copying it in his book.

Still a PITA...but then I always hated doing HW when i was at school so it's no great surprise that I'm moaning....

Snap LTH! DS2 and me have got an afternoon of "investigating the changes in transport from 1900 - 1950" on T'Internet. He's 10, so really too young IMO to leave alone with the PC while on the web. I am more than happy to help him but he gets bored really quickly so it ends up being a reall tussle just to get him to focus - oh well....

I bet there won't be anyone in DS's class who actually have teeth to take in though....

I jokingly said he could take in my extracted wisdom teeth and he wanted too!!
I've cleaned them with bleach and removed the last traces of blood and stuff so he's really chuffed.
He's taking 2 of his milk teeth too....

All selotaped to a piece of paper so no-one has to touch them

I wonder if the teacher will be pleaed

Repeat after me, 'It is his homework, not mine!'

The teach will want to know what he knows, not what you know

Thats why it took 3 hours MB.

Finding stuff thats was right for a 7yr old, stuff he wants to know and all that.

For eg he'll tell you know(along with the "normal" stuff) that China invented the toothbrush in 1500, made with horse or badger hair....
He loves stuff like that. He'll be like me...a mind with a databank of useless information

If he really wanted to show off he could say chewing is called Masticating, we chew the food to make a Bolus that we swallow.

The muscle around the lips is called the orbicularis oris. Lower jaw is the mandible, upper is the maxilla.

7 years old and three hours spent on that?

Dd1 is five. I DO NOT WANT TO do things like that.

Sigh.... I really don't want all that homework malarkey to start, ever... Dd1 is in year one and only gets reading, which doesn't really feel like h/w.

LadyTophamHatt, I'm you kept your extracted wisdom teeth! I don't think I was even offered mine, and would certainly have declined it.

If you consider your son too young to explore the internet on his own, why not try taking him to the library next time. My local one is full of books on worthy topics for young children - he could go and find himself a book and save you trawling the internet for hours.

In all that time you must have picked up some priceless tooth-related useless facts though - please do feel free to share them with the rest of us (if not too gory)...

I have all 3 that have been removed so far, Hellgerda

All the facts have gone to school this morning so as much as I'd love to tell them, my memory fail me.
There was anything too gory BTW...DS1 has a very weak stomach
