has anyone heard of the enriched curriculum?

My daughter(6) school has started the Enriched Curriculm (learning through play). She seems to have so much play time and can do whatever she wants, when she wants. She has had no words home and no spellings (teacher says it doesn't matter if they can spell correctly and will not correct mistakes) but her reading seems good. Compared to other local schools they do not seem to be as advanced. What if this doesn't work? Will she ever catch up?
