What does this really mean? A piece of paper has come home from school (year 3) with no explanation -just results. reading level 4, writing level 4 and maths 4c. I want to know what does it actually mean in relation to key stage or QCA (?) testing. Has dd done well or average or what- no idea, no explanantions!!

Your DD has done extremely well, Level 4s are the expected average level of a year 6 child.HTH

Some schools do optional SATs at the end of each year, to help eachers assess progress through the year. Your dd has done very well, a level 4 is what is expected nationally at the end of year 6, the letter at the end is where in the level she is c being the bottom of the level and an a being the top, nearly at the next level. Hope that makes sense. Well done to your DD, clever thing!

Thank you- wow- I am really proud of her! We knew she has a reading age of 11.5, so that all fits in really.
