There is a very expensive prep school in nearby town and it's website is from 2003

All the dates of holidays, school trips etc is from 3 years ago

So today I rang them up and asked if I was looking at the correct site cos all the details were from 3 years ago

And was told they were having TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES and yes it was 3 years out of date

And was going to be updated in the near future

I was asked if I wasted a propectus sent to me and I said no that I just wanted to look at the site.

DS is about to do secondary transfer but some of the children he will be with in september go to that school so I was just being nosey GrinGrinGrin

BUT If I was a parent or a prospective parent wanting to spend thousands of £££££££££ I would at least expect the website to be up to date.

What do you think?????

Other schools have holiday dates, teacher's names, dates of special events, children's work

Well this one daoes too as long as you were there in 2003

2 alternative thoughts occur to me :-

  1. how cr*p is it to have something public 3 years out of date and not to do anything about it - even just deleting the "old" pages. I think there was a spate of school websites set up around that time so perhaps it is more passe atm and therefore goes unmaintained.
2)that the school is popular and fills up on personal recommendation so doesn't need the pr of a website to attract prospective parents. Therefore it prioritises time and resources into the day to day running of the school and education of its pupils.

I can't understand why they don't delete the term dates for autumn 2003 and the schools the children have moved onto

Some of the other prep schools have what the lunch menus are for the week and what the children are doing next week, like sports matches etc.

There are soooo many prep schools around here that I can't think that one stands out as top iyswim

But even if not for prospective parents

what about the ones at the school at the time

At DS school they have children's poems and photos of their art work

Yes, DS1 and I looked at secondary school websites, and he in particular would have been put off by any that could not be bothered to update the site.

They also now know me and my dds by names whereas before they didnt. Obviously the irritating emailing parentGrin
