If you had to choose ?
My plan is to part Home Ed up to secoundary and then the girls to attend either the local grammar school or private school but I wondered if any one has an opinion as to whether this is the best way ???

The guy that does the education bit in the times answered this question last week. He went for private secondary on the grounds that more important years and that private sec schools were aware that they had to make more effort with those from state sector and compensated accordingly.

also personally think it would be quite hard to send a child from private primary stage to state secondary. Hard in the sense of them being used to more extracurricular and broader curriculum, plus leaving their friends as most will be carrying on in private sector.

Dd1 goes to local grammar - higher educational standards than local private school. Hopefully dd2 will do the same. Ds is dyslexic therefore more problematic. Don't know if he'll keep up in grammar school writing wise but wouldn't send him to any of our local comps. This is why I'm considering moving him out for Y5 to work on basics at home woth me.

Agree with miggy. Private primary to state secondary can be difficult. I know people who had to do it with their ds for financial reasons.

that's what we are planning. at the moment I want ds (5y, in reception) just to enjoy himself. I'm not bothered if he doesn't "learn" anything at school as yet. Also think the choice of subjects in secondary state is bit too narrow.
