Free Schools....can anyone enlighten me

When I first heard about them I got a web address from the newspaper...it was supposed to be the official site for Free Schools...a sort of port of call and a place to link up with people local to you who were starting them...anyway, there were about 3 people on there! So I left and have now lost the link.

Where can I find out more please? Do you know anything? What are your thoughts/reservatons about them?

All I know is that they are an idea that is taken over from Sweden where they have proliferated over the last decade. What the powers that be forget to say is that they are generally considered an educational disaster by the Swedes themselves, that Sweden has slipped badly in the international educational league tables (which it used to head) since their introduction, and that Swedish state schools are struggling as the pupils deserting them for the free schools leave them half empty and bereft of resources.
