Report it to paypal they almost always go in favour of the buyer.

Open a dispute for "item not as described" and escalate it to a claim if the seller doesnt offer a refund

I will do, so disappointed. DP just told me they emailed him to get him to paypal a different account to the one registered wish he had told me that, alarm bells would have rung!

Did it come from the Far East? Often traders from China will deregister very quickly when they're selling pirated stuff.

I have had no luck with them. But with a woman in Scotland who was trying it on I got my money back within hours.

Yeah, you should be covered. You will have to post back, tracked, at your own cost though

They shouldn't ask for it to be returned in this case though as they are illegal, they don't make you return fake items. Get on to Paypal asap, maybe give them a ring for advice or check the forums on Ebay or MSE.

Surely if you actually paid the unregistered address you won't get your money back?

I would email the seller first and ask for your money back - but I wouldn't send them back if they have come from abroad as there's no way of proving they get there.

Just saw that you paid a different account - yikes, not so straight forward. Has the seller got any other listings at the moment, if so report them to Ebay to try and prevent it happening to someone else, I take it you've left a Neg?

Ooops, didnt realise your DP actually paid the different address! No paypal cover then I am afraid Migth be worth ringing ebay though, a few people have managed to get refunds that way.

Person is still listed but ebay will not let me open a dispute until 10 days after listing ends

Paypal should cover it as he put in the item number to link it to the ebay purchase so should have buyer protection via them. She has loads of items for sale, Sarah from Avon, grrr.

Open the dispute with paypal now and escalate to a claim. Don't bother with ebay dispute.

Should we email her first do you think or would that be naively optimistic?

Someone else gave neg feedback (the only one!) for the same thing and she/he responded saying "no communication, I am always aiming to please and happy to refund unhappy customers".

No, open the dispute first, before she clears her paypal account.

Just as an aside, it doesnt matter if a seller clears their PP account, you would still get a refund Their account just goes into the negative & reffered to a debt collection agency.

Stripey, that didn't happen with me when paypal 'refunded' me when something I bought from a m'neter never arrived. It sad that I won the claim but the seller didn't have funds.

I got a refund from the seller amazingly! She said it wasn't an illegal copy it was just a sample copy for asian market don't much care either way now I have my money back.

Rather ridiculous to sell these things, they had a bar along the bottom saying when the next ER was on, not like anyone wouldn't notice!
