eBay

Is this a scam?

I have a buggy for sale on eBay - it's a Bebe Confort, which is a French brand originally.

I put local collection only, as I imagine sending buggies by courier is a real pain. I got a question today from a buyer asking how much it would be to ship it to France and saying they would pay by PayPal (verified).

Is this normal? Surely that's going to cost an arm and a leg, even if I do it, and given that these buggies are really common in France, surely there must be loads on French eBay?

Or is this some sort of scam?

I'm reluctant to say I'd do it, what do you all think?

Is it a discontinued model that maybe they are prepared to pay a premium to obtain?

I'd quote for parcelforce, and leave it up to them to decide if they want to pay the extra. If you said it registered, and they are paying by paypal, you should be well covered.

Just politely say the item is UK local collection only. Say you have no packaging and are not willing to post it.

If anything goes wrong, the item gets damaged/lost in the post etc etc, it will be a total PITA. I would steer well clear and just make sure your bidder preferences are set to block bidders from countries you don't post to.

When I recently listed a few things on Ebay(only clothes) I had loads of enquiries from abroad about whether I'd ship overseas, one from as far as Australia.

I think it's because the pound is weak at the moment.

Once the money is in your paypal then there's no problem. If they want to arrange and pay for a courier then let them.
