Can they do this?

I messaged them via ebay to ask when they would be posting the item, bu haven't had any reply. i looked back at the item description and the away date has now changed until end sept.

Can I cancel as they have moved the date?

start a dispute now, escalate to a claim right away.

Do you think?

They've obviously been back on ebay to update so they must have seen my message.

i've just read some of their feedback and some of them say that the seller didn't reply to emails, but items did arrive.

I'm wondering whether I should give them a bit longer.

as far as i am aware you cant change a listing once its ended.

The listing hasn't ended because it was a buy it now with multiple units.

well you only have so long beore you can't make a claim, so I would do it now. They were not honest in their auction. The least they could have done was email you when you bought the item to let you know, not just update the listing.

Make a claim and move on.

They could have come back, posted your item and then left again; that would be consistent with the changing away dates. I'd give them a few days just in case it's in the post before opening a dispute. They still should have replied to your message, though.
