dh bought this, but the invoice had a higher p+p on it than in the listing. He questioned it and asked for another invoice. The seller then replied saying the item had now been lost.

Between the auction closing and the seller's response he appears to have listed and sold an identical item.

the first one

the second one

What can I do? If I leave negative feedback can he negative me also (as an unpaid buyer)?

What would you do?

Seller's aren't allowed to leave negative feedback now on buyers. Only positive.

i think he realised he listed it incorrectly and re listed to get more for it.

shady but hard to prove
still worth reporting if you can be bothered

I'm sure he decided he didn't get enough for it the first time so relisted it.

I thought it was still possible to leave a negative if the item wasn't paid for.

Yeah you'll be fine leaving negative feedback. He won't be able to do it to you though. It's a new thing I've noticed with ebay. It says "Sellers can no longer leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers. Buyers should leave honest Feedback without the fear of receiving negative or neutral ratings." So you don't have to worry about leaving negative feedback and getting the same back from him But definitely seems like he relisted it to get more money.
