paypal payment pending - what does this mean ?

new seller on ebay, only recently registered.

have sent payment via paypal, and it's showing up on my ebay account as payment pending.

what does this mean ?

hope I haven't been scammed !

did you have money in your paypal account or has it come from a card? if from a card it takes a few days to clear, therefor pending

Or it could've been a dreaded eCheque. I recently bought a buggy and it took just over a week for payment to clear even though I had the money in my bank. Have a look in your paypal account and it'll tell you if it's an eCheque.
