Is it okay to post to Italy?

My DH put a piece of 'naim' sound equipment on eBay for sale as 'collection only'. Apparently, someone from Italy asked this afternoon if DH would post it to Italy and he said yes, so it sold for a grand.

I have it in the back of my mind that you don't post to Italy as it will wander off. Am I worrying him for nothing or do I have a point? And if it is a problem how do I deal with this? Confused

I would send it registered post. Italian mail is not reliable!

Just make sure the parcel is properly packed and insured.

I don't and I send worldwide. Italy postal service is poor.

Only send tracked and I would use a courier- DHL, UPS which will be very expensive. If it weighs more than 2kg the postal options will be limited. Make sure that it is full insured up to the price the buyer paid and declare that on any documentation.

Sign up to the eBay Global Shipping Program - you send the item to a UK clearing warehouse. Once they've received it you're fully insured in case of loss or damage. You get e mail updates about the progress of your package. It's expensive for buyers so you could offer International Signed For as well but check your prices first on the Royal Mail website.

Never ever send abroad without signed/tracked - it's just not worth it!

@ShitAtScarbble agree - can't get over how expensive GSP is. If I'm buying , it sends to put me off as it's so high.
