How to pay for item when the case has been closed

I didn't receive an item (and original still hasn't turned up after 3 weeks) so seller re-sent but also closed the case because they refunded. I have now received the replacement but I don't know how to pay for it through ebay?

You can't do it through eBay. You can make a direct payment through PayPal though

OK, thanks. It's a bit trusting of them though isn't it?

No is not trusting - the eBay seller refunded because they had no choice unless they sent the replacement via a tracked postage service. When an eBay case is open the seller has to either refund or provide a tracking number, otherwise eBay applied the refund automatically after so many days.
So when the seller sent you a replacement but you didn't close the eBay case from your side - then you still get the refund too.

I know they have to refund because it wasn't sent tracked. I didn't get a chance to close the case, they closed it at the point they first communicated with me saying they had sent a replacement and refunded my money - and asked me to arrange payment for the replacement. I just thought it was odd that this couldn't be done through ebay as how can the seller 'make' me pay for the new item (which I have done).
You seem to be suggesting I've done something wrong! I have one item and I've paid for one item.

If they have top selling status it's what you do to keep customers happy. Do you know if it was an eBay shop or an ordinary seller?

The guidelines for eBay shops are different and their actions can affect their standing in listings. We are a shop and will do exactly as your seller did.

Don't worry about it. It's the sellers risk if there is no tracking with the parcel.
