should I refuse paypall if I am dropping the item off?

I sold an item the other day with postage listed. The winning bidder contacted me to ask if he could collect item and pay cash as he lives nearby. I agreed to this and then offered to drop it off as he lives on my route to work and it seemed easier for me rather than having to hang about waiting for someone to collect. Buyer was appreciative of this and we exchanged addresses and arranged time etc. Now buyer has just paid via paypal.
Should I contact and ask him to reverse the payment?
Can a buyer even do this or do I need to cancel the sale and refund him? Would the next step be to re-list as buy it now at the price that won at auction and ask buyer to purchase it again?
Really annoying this paypal issue with poor seller protection!

If he agrees to it, you can issue him with a refund. Or ask him for the email address that he's got connected to Paypal and send the money back to him directly - it'll come out of your Paypal account and not affect your bank account. That way, when he brings cash, he's not paying you twice.

Don't relist - it'll cost YOU ultimately with fees and whatnot - just go direct.

He may just have overlooked the fact you wanted cash - at least he's paid though!! Have been trading on eBay for years, and the amount that bid and then can't be bothered - you wouldn't believe it!! Just send a friendly email - like, 'Hi, I would prefer cash - please can you bring it with you when you collect, and I'll send you the refund in the meantime for the money you paid on Paypal" :)

don't ask for email and send a separate payment.

log into your paypal, find his payment, click on it scroll down and refund correctly.

Then cash only - no exceptions.

In particular flowerygirl no matter what proof of collection/delivery a seller might arrange with the buyer, if it isn't one of the ones that ebay recognise (these being ones which are accessible on the Internet), then as far as ebay are concerned collection/delivery has not happened.

As a result, if the buyer opens a case ebay will almost certainly find in their favour.
