Buyer saying item isn't working and insides of the item are loose and he understands this has probably happened during postage. It was defo working when it left us, but can we claim against RM? It was sent parcelforce 48.

Rant alert I am getting very cheesed off with eBay recently, if fact I really wanted to type a lot of swear words just here!!!!!!!!

yes you may need the item back and the packaging kept so make sure your buyer keeps them for now.

fergoose thanks. Have you ever claimed from them? I imagine they don't make it easy.

No I haven't, but others have successfully as far as I know. I know sometimes they ask to see packaging, or even photos, so maybe ask you buyer to send pics in the meantime.

Have asked for photos, what's the chances of a refund without obvious damage to the packing?

I claimed from Parcel Force before. It did take a couple of months, but I did eventually get my money back and it was easy - just took a while and in the meantime I had to refund my buyer. My buyer sent the item and the packaging back to me (I refunded her for that as well), but parcel force never asked to see it, just wanted photos sent in.

I got a refund for the item, but not for the cost of the postage. (Which peed me off slightly, but I was so glad to be getting some money back I let it go).

I have the joy of claiming from Royal Mail weekly :) I don't know how it is for personal, but this is how it works for businesses:

You submit a claim, they contact the recipient to confirm that the item was indeed damaged, and when that person responds, they will refund you the cost of postage and the value of the damaged item, capped to a certain amount.

It can be a little slow, but providing the buyer responds to their request, it should go through without problems.
