advice when collecting an item and paying cash

Hi!

I have just won an item for cash on collection. In the description the seller says that the item is new (baby walker) and I got it for a good price so I am happy.

Howeve, I am playing devils advocate and wondering what to do if when I go to collect it is not in "new" condition?

Also (this will sound very soft) but is it in any way dangerous to go to someones house to collect an item?

I've collected several ebay items recently. I haven't considered it might be dangerous but if you're worried take someone with you.

If the item isn't as described then you have no obligation to pay for it. It's up to you if you turn it down or negotiate on the price. I've bought loads of stuff and only once had an item not as described so I doubt you'll have a problem.

Thanks nocake!

I think I am being daft about safety, and will make sure I go in daylight etc.

Do you know if its best to pay cash or paypal if seller accepts both?

Cash... then they have the money, you have the baby walker and there are no arguments.
