Ukraine Clinics for egg donors - are they all bad?

My wife and I are looking for donor egg clinics and researching Ukraine via the egg donation friends 'compare' option. We are thinking of contacting the most popular one on there (definitely not BioTex though - read all press about them).

However after going through the posts on here about the Ukraine it seems no one has had any favourable outcomes - more spam and dodginess than anything else.

Does anyone have anything good to report about the Ukraine?

We've already gone through a few rounds of IVF but to no avail hence the DE approach.

The Ukraine is more desirable for us due to the looks/physical attributes but we are now considering the Czech Republic. It's why we won't consider Greece/Spain.

We had our donor egg ivf in Spain. Not all if their donors are actually Spanish. The clinic we used matched our physical attributes with donors. So you should get a good match from a decent clinic.

Thanks Cutes - good to know. Its a concern as both my wife and I are very fair skinned.

Do you mind if I ask which clinic you used and what you thought about it?

I am meditteranean by heritage but incredibly fair skinned and my husband is blonde and some how darker skinned than me! Anyway, we used institut marques in Barcelona for egg donation. They were brilliant and the physical match was pretty close. Similar height, weight. She has slightly lighter hair, slightly darker skin and green rather than blue eyes.

DS is 7 now and we get the occasional comment from people who think he looks like me even from people who know he’s egg donation. More people think he looks like DH, which is fair enough as they are genetically related!

Would definitely recommend the clinic.

For info, they get loads of (potentially international) students, donating so definitely not just people local to Barcelona.

Thanks Mner2019 will check into them also. Barcelona is a lot easier to get to than Prague for us.

We used IVI Alicante and they were superb. State if the art facilities and no silly added extras. We got pregnant on our second cycle with a FET from a donor egg. Our little boy is now almost4 and some people say he looks like me! He looks very like his Dad and cousins as well xx

We used a donor from serum Athens and she had brown eyes and dark brown hair with olive skin, me and DP both have blue eyes and brown hair, DS has brown eyes like the donor (we are open about using a donor so we're happy knowing this would happen) but he is fair skinned and has blonde hair

Thanks Lauren83. We have tried IVF a few times before but with no success hence now looking at the DE IVF option. We're both fair skinned, with green and blue eyes and we'd like to have that.

Can I ask how you made the decision on the clinic? Its such a mind boggling choice and I'm always interested to hear what others had as their deciding factors. Ours are primarily the quality, cost and to a a degree success rates. I'm also a big believer in user reviews.

Congratulations on your bundle of trouble @Cutes. We have been talking to EggDonationfriends and they've also suggested Spain and Greece as potential destinations for what we're looking for. It does feel a little overwhelming with so many choices.

It was my 5th cycle, I did 2 OE and 2 DE over here then decided to try one last time, I know a lot who had used serum and had read a lot about them on Fertility Friends, they guarantee 4 blasts or a rematch so that appealed to me too

We had donor sperm not eggs, but a really good experience at Vitanova in Denmark.

A donor who closely matches your characteristics wouldn't be a problem there!

Ok just to add that our donor had blue eyes- it's just happened that our son has brown like his Dad x

@Lauren83 - that guarantee is good information. I'll look into them this evening and also check out Fertility Friends.

@LauraMipsum - What was the pricing like in Denmark? Definitely wouldn't go wrong there for the characteristic match and its a relatively short trip from here (the Netherlands).

@Cutes - ah good ol' genetics kicking in!

The pricing is here: vitanova.dk/en/prices-and-payment/

When we factored in travel costs at very short notice it worked out quite reasonable (particularly compared to the UK where costs are high, or were then). Although in honesty Vitanova was so good that if we did want to do it again, I don't think we'd even do comparisons again. They made it a really relaxed, positive experience. At other clinics I didn't always feel like an equal participant, more like a subject, and that was just in preliminary consultations not for actual treatment!

Thanks for sharing @LauraMipsum.

Pricing is similar to other packages and the flights are direct.

I used Next Generation Clinic in St Petersburg, Russia. I found the clinic to be excellent - both efficient and friendly. They have an extensive egg donation programme and you can see the donors’ photos and biometric data. They also have non-anonymous egg donors. Prices are reasonable compared to the UK even when flights and acccommodation are factored in.

We used New Life Clinic In Thessaloniki, Greece.

I got a BFP on my first transfer (we went for FET rather than a fresh transfer) We now have five month old boy/girl twins.

My donor was fair skinned like myself and DH and a very similar weight and height to me. She also had my brown hair. Her eyes were blue, but that’s fine as DH has blue eyes and is blonde.

Twins are very little still, but boy is noticeably dark skinned and little girl is very fair. They are both the spit of DH, but lots of people ( the ones who don’t know they are DE) will comment that little girl looks like meSmile

I would highly recommend New Life to anyone. They are an amazing clinic.
