WWYD - Expensive Bracelet

STBXH bought me an expensive bracelet in a bid to win me back, I said at the time I didn't want it but he insisted and it's been sitting in my jewellery box ever since. He asked me if I'd sold it last month and I said that I was keeping hold of it to give to DD when she was old enough to appreciate what it was. He's now asked for it back saying he wants to give it to DD on her birthday. WWYD, would you give it back or give it to DD yourself????

Give it back unless it’s with £1000’s and would be material in a settlement

I gave it back, he says he is going to give it to DD when she is 18. I'm glad to be shot of it to tbh, I never would have worn it because of the circumstances it was bought under, and it would have been a reminder sitting in my jewellery box for all those years.

I would feel slightly strange to receive a bracelet from my dad when I turned 18 that had been an attempt to win her back

Would she not find it awkward? Or you if she started wearing it regularly?

I wear a one I was given for my 18th every single day and would feel really bad if it brought bad memories for my mum

I didn't really think of that @ShyOwl. It's a long time until she's 18 though - over a decade - I think I'll be over it by then 🤞🏻

@LemonTT

Would significant gifts be disclosed as part of the divorce?

Could be, I have heard tell of jewellery being relevant. Some people hold wealth in jewellery and who is to say whether it’s an investment or gift. It would be listed on insurance as well.

In this case my point would be that if he used £10k of family money on this, it can’t be left out of the decision on settlement. Whether it’s a gift for the daughter or not.

None of this stuff is easy 🤷‍♀️
