Divorce/separation

Where and how to apply for divorce?

Been separated 2 years now and have applied through the gov website.
My questions are
Does the £550 price for the whole process? No other costs involved?
Is that price each or between the both of us?
We have both agreed to the divorce
Thanks in advance

(Does the £550 price for the whole process? No other costs involved? Yes, I believe so unless you have a need e.g. solicitors to run up other costs.
Is that price each or between the both of us? I guess you could think of that as for the both of you. Only one person can apply for the divorce (that person becomes the applicant) and the other then has to respond to it (that person therefore become the respondent). So basically that fee is paid by the applicant as they apply for or lodge the divorce papers.

Does that make sense? Was it helpful?

Great thank you! That helps a great deal.

Yes it is the whole cost of the ‘divorce’ bit.

The financial consent order has to be drawn up by a solicitor. We had agreed a fair split between us so I have used Wikivorce (£349 for second tier order) plus a £50 court filing fee.

I am hoping to conclude my divorce for not very much money at all compared to most.

You're very welcome. Good luck with it all - give me a shout if you need anything else. The Gov UK site is helpful but sometimes it could do with a bit an explanation on points.

I have just completed my divorce through the gov website and I was so impressed with the service. I applied on 13 February and completed yesterday. All done online, no hassle at all and paid only £550.
No solicitors used as we agreed everything amicably between us and not many assets to split. For straightforward divorces like ours this is definitely the best way to go, saved a lot of time, stress and expenses.
Good luck xxx

Ski40 did you not have a financial consent form done by a solicitor?
